Peacefully at home on Tuesday October 27, 2009, with his family by his side at the age of 60 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Cherished husband for 34 years of Nancy (Lamirande).
Devoted father of Lyndsay (Don Delong) and Ryan.
Much loved brother of Loutfy (late Tamam), Elias "Allan" (Maha), Nouhad "Mary" (Gabby Kourie) and the late Mikhail (Mounira).
Predeceased by his parents Azizi and Merchad Ayoub-Karam. Dear son-in-law of Ken and the late Elizabeth Lamirande.

Tragically passed away on Thursday morning July 8, 2010, at the age of 59.
Survived by his loving wife of 35 years Cecile and his 4 beautiful daughters; Savanah, Yasmine, Magida, Samira and predeceased by 5 children Carolina, Solina, Sabrina, Shadia and Paul.

He will be fondly remembered by his many friends and customers in the community of Richmond.

The Right Reverend Exarch Habib Kwaiter, B.S.O.
28 July 1924 – 17 December 2009
Fell asleep in the Lord on Thursday, December 17, 2009. A priest of the Basilian Salvatorian Order for 60 years, Father Habib spent his life as a faithfuland faith-filled priest, serving God and His people.

O Christ God, with the Saints grant rest to the soul of your servant, The Right Reverend Exarch Habib in a place where there is no pain, no grief, no sighing, but everlasting life.

The Eparchy of Saint Savior for the Greek Melkite Catholics in Canada, the Basilian Salvatorian Order, the Parish of Saints Peter and Paul, and the family of Father Habib thank God for Father's faithful service and ask for prayers for the repose of his soul.
Father was known for his beautiful singing voice, his joyful ways, his tireless service, and his 'pastor's heart'.

Father Habib was born in Damascus, Syria on July 28, 1924. A member of the Basilian Salvatorian Order, Father Habib was ordained a priest on July 24, 1949. He taught and was a school principal in both Lebanon and Egypt from 1949 to 1965. In 1965 he arrived into Canada where he was appointed Vicar to assist at St. Sauveur Parish in Montreal. Father Habib was appointed Administrator to Sts. Peter and Paul Parish, in Ottawa, on September 26, 1969 and later Pastor on January 1, 1970.
His many accomplishments and hard work led him to be elevated to the rank of Economos on November 21, 1971. His crown achievement is the construction of the new Sts. Peter and Paul Church and Parish offices on March 30, 1980. The church was officially dedicated on June 28, 1981. He also purchased the school next to the Church on November 8, 1993 to ensure that children of the Parish could have religious education. He was elevated to the rank and dignity of Patriarchal Exarch on June 24, 1994.
His hard work, dedication and love for his church allowed him to accomplish many great deeds. As a result, he received many awards, including Commemorative medal for the 125th anniversary of Canada in 1992 by the Governor General.
Father Habib was also decorated by the President of the Republic of Lebanon with the "National Cedar Award".

Father Habib will be missed by a large family, countless friends and parishioners all over the world who worked alongside him for many years.
Father Habib is the son of the late Ibrahim and Marie Kwaiter. He is pre-deceased by his sisters, the late Georgette (Hannouch – the late Joseph) (Pawtucket, RI, USA) and the late Antoinette (Beitinjaneh- Shafik) (Damascus, Syria). He is survived by his brothers H.E. Msgr. Georges Kwaiter (Saida, Lebanon), Anthony Kweiter (St.Louis, MO, USA), Edmond Kwaiter (Damascus, Syria), José Cueter Cueter (Monteria, Columbia, South America) and his sister Thérèse (Chaho – Ibrahim) (Ottawa, Canada) and many nieces and nephews and their children living in Canada, USA, Syria, Columbia, the United Kingdom and France: Marian Naoufal (Nadim), Charles Chaho (Guendelina), John Chaho (Christina), Merry Kweiter, Gloria Lahoud (Wilson), Linda Boman (Sean), Georges Hannouch (Denise), Hilda Riccio, Farris Hannouch, Marianne Dabal (Bashar), Fadi Kwaiter (Maya), Andre Kwaiter, Antoinette Cueter (Andres), Abraham Cueter, Maya Beitinjaneh (Frederic) and Hani Beitinjaneh.

Friends may pay their respects at Saints Peter and Paul Melkite Catholic Church, 1161 North River Road in Ottawa on Sunday, December 20 from 2:00PM to 5:00PM and from 7:00PM to 9:00PM, Monday, December 21 from 5:00PM to 9:00PM, Tuesday, December 22 from 5:00PM to 9:00PM.
The Funeral will be held Wednesday, December 23 at 11:00AM at Saints Peter and Paul Melkite Catholic Church, 1161 North River Road in Ottawa. Interment will be at Beechwood Cemetery.
